Email remains an unloved though effective advertising channel. Your email database is an incredibly valuable asset. We have run some email campaigns with our publishers. These have very often taken the form of an article or an ad within an email. This is sometimes sufficient but more often than not, does not answer the brief. The ad sizes can be non-standard and in a world striving for simple efficiencies, a requirement for a non-standard ad is very often enough to disqualify you from campaign consideration. Advertisers are really looking for a direct, unencumbered channel to market. They really want to be able to send a fully branded html email on a solus basis to your email database. This is more likely to drive engagement and response than a presence in a shared email.

Advice: We would like to be able to sell fully branded, solus HTML emails. You need to make sure your terms allow you to do this. Our experience is that even a basic level agreement should provide for this. You are not selling or sharing email addresses. The sendout is being administered by you via the email server you use. The email itself will be “in association with” your brand.
